The stuff that survived my kids
Real picks from a real mom β€” no fluff, no "sponsored by someone I've never used." If it's on this page, it earned a spot in my actual house. I'm adding to it as I go (and as I get the links sorted), so check back. And if you spot something here and want my honest take before you buy β€” just ask me. Ask me how I know.

⭐ The one I'd grab in a fire

The Skylight Calendar

A touchscreen calendar that lives on my wall where the whole family can see it β€” chores, practices, who's where, "is it a school day?" β€” all of it, in one place that isn't just in my head anymore.
For a house full of brains that need to see it to believe it, this thing earns its keep. The mental load I used to carry alone now lives on the wall. Game-changer.
Best for: visual kids, ND households, and any mom who's tired of being the only one who knows the schedule.

Google Calendar β€” one color per kid

My free, in-my-pocket backup to the Skylight. One calendar, one color per kid. Every appointment and "wait, that's TODAY?" in one place. If you do nothing else, do this one.
100% free. Already on your phone.

Alexa / Echo timers

Let the timer be the bad guy, not you. Screens, chores, transitions β€” "Alexa said time's up," not Mom said. It takes the fight out of the clock, and that's worth its weight in gold with a kid who battles transitions.
Best for: ND kids who fight the timer (and the mom who's tired of being it).
✍️ My planning toolkit

⭐ Frixion erasable pens β€” my ride-or-die

If I had one office-supply hill to die on, it's these. The pens are GOLD. Plans change, kids change, our whole life changes by Tuesday β€” and Frixion erases clean (it's heat; run a hair dryer over a whole page and start fresh), so I can plan in pen without committing to a plan that won't survive the week. (They make erasable highlighters too β€” those are fine, not my favorite β€” but the pens? Non-negotiable.)
Bonus: fill the Reset Journal in Frixion and you can wipe it clean and reuse it forever. [link slot]

A little laminator

Laminate the menu board, the morning cards, the chore chart β€” and suddenly it's dry-erase forever instead of a sad crumpled paper by Wednesday. Cheap, and it makes everything I build for my family actually last.
My Planning Toolkit Reset walks through exactly how I use it. [link slot]
🌈 Sensory & calm-down (what survives my house)
I'm linking my exact picks as I go β€” but here's what to look for and why, so you're not buying blind. Want my current go-to in any of these before I get the link up? Message me β€” I'll tell you straight.

A visual timer

The kind where you can see the time shrinking. For a kid who can't feel how long five minutes is, watching the red disappear does what nagging never will.

Noise-reducing headphones

For the kid who melts down at the grocery store, the gym, the family party. Turning the world's volume down is sometimes the whole fix. I keep a pair in the car.

Fidgets & chew that actually last

Not the dollar-bin junk that breaks in a day. The ones built for a kid who needs to move their hands or mouth to focus their brain.
My picks β†’

Pressure & a crash spot

Deep pressure calms a revved-up nervous system β€” a weighted blanket, a "squish" between couch cushions, a corner with pillows to crash into. You can build most of this with what you already own.

πŸ’° How I claw back cash

My money-back apps + the stacking trick

Rakuten, Ibotta & Fetch β€” cash back on stuff you're already buying. The trick is knowing which one to use where (Walmart vs. online vs. Dollar Tree). I put my exact method + my codes on one page so you don't have to figure it out.

πŸ“š Books that actually helped me
The reads that met me where I was β€” not the ones that made me feel more behind. I'm still pulling this shelf together (honestly β€” there are a lot of them). Want a rec for exactly where you're at right now? Just ask me β€” I'll tell you the one that helped me.

[Foster / adoptive read] add title

The one that helped me love hard through the hard parts. β€” add your pick + why it mattered.

[ND-brain read] add title

The one that made "behavior is communication" finally click. β€” add your pick + why.

[A "you matter too, Mom" read] add title

The one that reminded me I'm a whole person, not just a role. β€” add your pick + why.

πŸ“– …and one of mine

The Open Book Series is coming β€” real, raw, hopeful stories from a mom who kept learning. Peek at it β†’
My honest promise: I only ever share what's real. Some of these links may earn our little business a few cents someday (that's how a mom-run shop keeps the lights on) β€” and when they do, I'll always tell you straight. I would never put my name on something I wouldn't hand my own kids. Use what fits, skip what doesn't.
